In the mgketer.org version of this psalm, the reading of the beginning of verse 10b is זֶֽה. This is the reverse of the normal problem I have. In this case there is an extra silluq in the older version. I think the question then becomes Should the music allow a higher tessitura on the rest note or should it paint the tone of voice in the lower tessitura?
The beginning of the verse is even more interesting. Compare the two mgketer.org on top; regular Unicode from tanach.us on the bottom. The Unicode is too technical, but the musical differences are imaged.
Comparing mgketer.org (upper) with tanach.us - the first two words only from each phrase |
I did not 'fix' the verse below. So I question even my insistance on the greater reliability of the older version in this case. I would not be able without software to compare the two editions in full. The decision rests with whether the music fits the text or not. Who made / makes these decisions?
