1 And Naomi her mother-in-law said to her,
My daughter, do I not seek for you rest that it may be good for you? (1-4-1)
א ות֥אמר ל֖ה נעמ֣י חמות֑ה
בת֞י הל֧א אבקש־ל֛ך מנ֖וח אש֥ר יֽיטב־לֽך

bti hloa abqw-lç mnok awr iiTb-lç
2 And now is not Boaz of our acquaintance, with whose lasses you were?
Behold he himself winnows, threshing-floor, barley, tonight. (1-4-1)
ב ועת֗ה הל֥א ב֙עז֙ מֽדעת֔נו אש֥ר הי֖ית את־נערות֑יו
הנה־ה֗וא זר֛ה את־ג֥רן השער֖ים הלֽילה

b vyth hloa boyz modytnu awr hiit at-nyrotiv
hnh-hua zorh at-gorn hwyorim hlilh
3 So wash yourself and make yourself up, and put your shawl on you, and descend to the threshing-floor.
Do not be known to the man till he finishes eating and imbibing. (1-4-1)
ג ורח֣צת וס֗כת וש֧מת שמלת֛יך על֖יך ויר֣דת הג֑רן
אל־תודע֣י לא֔יש ע֥ד כלת֖ו לאכ֥ל ולשתֽות

4 And let it happen when he lies down. You know the place there where he lies down. And you come and uncover his feet and you lie down.
And he himself will make clear to you what you will do. (1-4-1)
ד ויה֣י בשכב֗ו ויד֙עת֙ את־המקום֙ אש֣ר ישכב־ש֔ם וב֛את וגל֥ית מרגלת֖יו ושכ֑בת
והוא֙ יג֣יד ל֔ך א֖ת אש֥ר תעשֽין

5 And she said to her,
All that you have said to me I will do. (1-4-1)
ה ות֖אמר אל֑יה
כ֛ל אשר־תאמר֥י אל֖י אֽעשֽה

6 And she descended to the threshing-floor,
and she did everything that her mother-in-law had commanded. (1-4-1)

7 And Boaz ate and imbibed and his heart was merry, and he came to lie down toward the end of the pile.
And she came in quietly, and uncovered his feet and lay down. (1-4-1)
ז וי֨אכל ב֤עז וישת֙ וייט֣ב לב֔ו ויב֕א לשכ֖ב בקצ֣ה הערמ֑ה
ותב֣א בל֔ט ותג֥ל מרגלת֖יו ותשכֽב

8 And it was in the middle of the night and the man was apprehensive and tossed and turned,
and behold a woman lying at his feet. (1-4-1)
ח ויהי֙ בחצ֣י הל֔ילה ויחר֥ד הא֖יש וילפ֑ת
והנ֣ה אש֔ה שכ֖בת מרגלתֽיו

9 And he said, Who are you?
And she said, I am Ruth your maidservant. Spread your wings over your maidservant, for the one redeeming is you yourself. (1-4-1)

ות֗אמר אנכי֙ ר֣ות אמת֔ך ופרשת֤ כנפ֙ך֙ על־אמ֣תך֔ כ֥י גא֖ל אֽתה

vtamr anoci rut amtç uprwt cnpiç yl-amtç ci goal ath
10 And he said, You are blessed of Yahweh, my daughter, you have made good your mercy, the last from the beginning,
that you did not go after choice, whether weak or rich. (1-4-1)
י וי֗אמר ברוכ֨ה א֤ת לֽיהוה֙ בת֔י היט֛בת חסד֥ך האחר֖ון מן־הראש֑ון
לבלתי־ל֗כת אחרי֙ הב֣חור֔ים אם־ד֖ל ואם־עשֽיר

lblti-lct akri hbkurim am-dl vam-ywir
11 And now my daughter have no fear. All that you say I will do for you,
for all my people of the gate know that you are a woman of ability. (1-4-1)
יא ועת֗ה בתי֙ אל־ת֣ירא֔י כ֥ל אשר־תאמר֖י אֽעשה־ל֑ך
כ֤י יוד֙ע֙ כל־ש֣ער עמ֔י כ֛י א֥שת ח֖יל אֽת

ia vyth bti al-tirai col awr-tamri aywh-lç
ci iody cl-wyr ymi ci awt kil at
12 And now because truly, because if I am redeemer ...
but moreover, there is a redeemer nearer than I. (1-4-1)
יב ועתה֙ כ֣י אמנ֔ם כ֥י אם־גא֖ל אנ֑כי
וג֛ם י֥ש גא֖ל קר֥וב ממֽני

13 ♪B You stop over tonight, and it will happen in the morning. If he will redeem you, good, let him redeem, and if he is not delighted to redeem you, then I myself will redeem you, as Yahweh lives.

יג ל֣יני הל֗ילה והי֤ה בב֙קר֙ אם־יגאל֥ך טוב֙ יגא֔ל ואם־ל֨א יחפ֧ץ לגֽאל֛ך וגאלת֥יך אנ֖כי חי־יהו֑ה
שכב֖י עד־הבֽקר

14 And she lay down at his feet till the morning, and she arose before a man could recognize his friend.
And he said, Let it not be known that the woman came to the threshing floor. (1-4-1)
יד ותשכ֤ב מרגלותיו֙‬ עד־הב֔קר ות֕קם בט֛רם יכ֥יר א֖יש את־רע֑הו
וי֙אמר֙ אל־יוד֔ע כי־ב֥אה האש֖ה הגֽרן

viamr al-iivvdy ci-bah haiwh hgorn
15 And he said, Provide the cloak that is on you and hold it fast, and she held it fast.
And he measured six sweeps, and put it on her, and she went to the city. (1-4-1)
טו וי֗אמר ה֠בי המטפ֧חת אשר־על֛יך ואֽחזי־ב֖ה ות֣אחז ב֑ה
וי֤מד שש־שערים֙ וי֣שת על֔יה ויב֖א העֽיר

vimd ww-wyorim viwt ylih viboa hyir
16 And she came to her mother-in-law and she said, Is that you, my daughter?
And she made clear for her all that the man had done for her. (1-4-1)
טז ותבוא֙ אל־חמות֔ה ות֖אמר מי־א֣ת בת֑י
ות֨גד־ל֔ה א֛ת כל־אש֥ר עֽשה־ל֖ה האֽיש

Tz vtboa al-kmoth vtamr mi-at bti
vtgd-lh at cl-awr ywh-lh haiw
17 And she said, He gave me these six sweeps.
Because he said to me, You may not go empty to your mother-in-law. (1-4-1)
יז ות֕אמר שש־השער֥ים הא֖לה נ֣תן ל֑י
כ֚י אמ֣ר אל֔י אל־תב֥ואי ריק֖ם אל־חמותֽך

iz vtamr ww-hwyorim halh ntn li
ci amr alii al-tboai riqm al-kmotç
18 And she said, Sit tight my daughter until you know how a thing will fall out,
because the man will not be quiet. In this case, he will consummate the thing today. (1-4-1)
יח ות֙אמר֙ שב֣י בת֔י ע֚ד אש֣ר תֽדע֔ין א֖יך יפ֣ל דב֑ר
כ֣י ל֤א ישקט֙ הא֔יש כֽי־אם־כל֥ה הדב֖ר היֽום
