2 Kings 10

Between what is written למחראות and what is read לְמֽוֹצָא֖וֹת stands a lot of questions about why the qere is read. In verse 27, what is read has the sense of understated filth, what is read is probably too rude to say out loud. There's no way that the scribe could confuse these two words.

My data does not contain all the words that are written. I now see I probably should have retained both ketiv and qere. A qere that corrects a ketiv is quite different from a qere that is a polite substitute for a written slur. In the first case I must accept the qere if I concur with it. (And sometimes I don't, e.g. in Psalm 100.) In the second I must keep the ketiv and be rude.

I also have a summary of the Koehler-Baumgartner lexicon where the practice of reading צאה filth for חרא shit is clearly noted. Oh my beard and whiskers. (I even have code in the music program to deal with the qere but it made the score more complex than necessary, so I decided not to use it. Still works though. All I would need is to update from the codex. One day someone with funding will also use the WLC web service to produce the scores. I have demonstrated that it is fully feasible. They will spend millions but that's fine. Such an effort would support several poor students.)

Also, will the real stem stand up? Some are obvious. Some are not. I will probably find a way to verify my final list against Koehler-Baumgartner at least by scanning those some of my outliers. I have found stems that are distinguished in some glossaries and not in others. E.g. I have conflated הלך with ילך. I think טוב and יטב should also be combined. (KB does not. The Hebrew Latin concordance does. The data is here.) But these can be reanalyzed  at any time. The stem or lemma form is a convenient abstraction for collecting words and sounds and domains, but it is somewhat redundant in the data since it is derived from commonality in the words themselves. The letters all have their way of behaving and sounding. Some of them are strong, some weak, some always stay in every word form and some don't. Remember the two teams of 11 - grammatical and non-grammatical letters - not quite that simple but very close.

Over 90% of the puzzle pieces by all measures, chapter, verse, and word, are now placed. (You can always see the summary status of Bob's Bible here.)

1 And Ahab had seventy children in Samaria.
And Jehu wrote correspondence and sent to Samaria to the nobility of Jezreel, the elders, and to the nurses of Ahab, saying,

2 So now, when this correspondence comes to you, and with you the children of your master,
and with you the chariot and the horses, and an enclosed city, and equipment,

3 See the best and the upright among the children of your master, that you will put on the throne of his father,
and fight for the house of your master.
3e 4C 23

4 But they feared very much, and they said, Behold, the two kings did not stand before him,
how then will we stand ourselves?
3e 4B 23

5 And he who was over the house and those who were over the city and the elders and the nurses sent to Jehu, saying, Your servants we are, and all that you say to us we will do.
We will not make anyone king. What is good in your eyes do.
3d 4C 47

6 And he wrote to them correspondence a second time, saying, If mine you are, and to my voice you will hear, take the heads of the incurables of the children of your master, and come to me about this time tomorrow at Jezreel.
And the children of the king, seventy persons, were with the privileged of the city, those who had developed them.
3c 4C 47
7 And it happened when the correspondence came to them that they took the children of the king and they butchered seventy persons.
And they put their heads in panniers, that they sent to him in Jezreel.
3e 4C 26

8 And the messenger came and it was told him, saying, They have brought the heads of the children of the king.
And he said, Put them, two accumulations, at the door of the gate till the morning.
3c 4C 21

9 And it happened in the morning that he went out and stood and said to all the people, You are righteous.
Behold I, I colluded against my master, and slew him, but who struck all these?
3e 4C 24

10 Know here that nothing will fall from the word of Yahweh earthward that Yahweh spoke concerning the house of Ahab.
And Yahweh is doing what he spoke by the hand of his servant Elijah.
3e 4C 24
11 And Jehu struck all the residue of the house of Ahab in Jezreel,
and all his privileged, and from his acquaintances, and his priests, until he was without a trace of a survivor.
3e 4C 32
12 And he arose and he went and he traveled to Samaria,
This is Beth-Eqed of the Shepherds in the way.
3d 4A 11

13 And Jehu found the brothers of Achaziah king of Judah, and said, Who are you?
And they said, The brothers of Achaziah, we are. And we go down to the welfare of the children of the king, and the children of the queen-mother.
3d 4C 23

14 And he said, Arrest them alive. And they arrested them alive.
And they butchered them at the pit of Beth-Eqed, forty two men and not a trace of a person was left from them.
3e 4C 13
15 And he went from there and found Yonadab, child of Rekab, to encounter him. And he blessed him, and he said to him, Is your heart upright, as my heart is with your heart? And Yehonadab said, It is and it is. Give your hand.
And he put forth his hand, and brought him up to himself to the chariot.
3c 4C 63
16 And he said, Come with me and see my zeal for Yahweh.
And they made him ride in his chariot.
3e 4B 15
17 And he entered Samaria, and struck all the residue of Ahab in Samaria, until he had exterminated him,
according to the word of Yahweh that he spoke to Elijah.
3c 4B 23
18 And Jehu collected all the people and he said to them, Ahab served Baal a little.
Jehu will serve him much.
3e 4C 25
19 So now, every prophet of Baal, all his servants, and all his priests, call to me. Let no one be absent, for a great offering I have to Baal. Anyone that is absent will not live.
But Jehu acted to supplant, in order that he might eliminate the servants of Baal.
3e 4B 45
20 And Jehu said, Sanctify a conclave to Baal. And they proclaimed. 3c 4B 17
21 And Jehu sent in all Israel, and all the servants of Baal came, and no men were still there who had not come.
And they entered the house of Baal, and the house of Baal was full edge to edge.
3e 4C 27
22 And he said to who was over the vestments, Bring out clothing for all the servants of Baal.
And he brought out to them the clothing.
3e 4B 22
23 And Jehu and Yehonadab child of Rekab entered the house of Baal,
and said to the servants of Baal, Investigate and see lest there are here with you of the servants of Yahweh, but the servants of Baal, them alone.
3d 4C 16
24 And they came to do offerings and burnt offerings.
And Jehu set for himself outside eighty men, and he said, The man who lets one escape from the persons that I am bringing into your hands, his throat will be instead of his throat.
3e 4C 12
25 And it happened as he finished doing the burnt offering that Jehu said to the footmen and to the equerries, Enter. Strike them each. Let no one come out. And they struck them with the edge of the sword.
And the footmen and the equerries cast them out, and they went to the city of the house of Baal.
3e 4C 38
26 And they brought out the monuments of the house of Baal, and incinerated them. 3d 3g 16
27 And they broke down the monument of Baal,
and they broke down the house of the Baal, and set it up as a latrine to today.
3e 4B 9
28 So Jehu exterminated Baal from Israel. 3d 3g 13

29 ~ But of the sins of Jeroboam child of Nabat who made to sin Israel, Jehu not did depart from following them,
the golden calves that were at Bethel and that were in Dan.
3e 4C 28

30 And Yahweh said to Jehu, In that you did well to do what is upright in my eyes, (according to all that was in my heart, you have done to the house of Ahab),
your children of four generations will sit on the throne of Israel.
3e 4C 39

31 And Jehu did not keep walking in the instruction of Yahweh the God of Israel with all his heart.
He did not depart from the sins of Jeroboam with which he made Israel to sin.
3d 4B 25
