Jeremiah 31

Notes:
verse 2 - constructing the second half from the parallel with the first. No specific subject of the verb in an infinitive form. The first half has a complex subject and predicate so word order cannot follow the music.
verse 5 - eat without waiting for the full 3 years of prohibition. I have not seen חלל used like this but given its two different glosses, commence/start or profane, the sense is reasonable though thoroughly condensed into the stem.
verse 6 - Ephraim going up to mount Zion sounds like a return of the northern tribes to Jerusalem worship.
verses 10 and 24 - about the term troop. Occasionally words give the wrong impression. A troop today is always about the military. But there is an archaic usage as a flock of sheep. Sorry about that. When I write troop, I always mean the archaic synonym עדר = צאן.
verse 19 - JB and NIV have I beat my breast.
verse 21 Here the northern tribes are called to return - from where to where? The word glossed as cairns is a hapax. Guessed from the parallel.
verse 22 needs an essay - it's not a boy girl axis. The pair of words is not male-female, but female against גבר and that word may be 'a man' but not in this reading, and certainly not exclusively. Ponder.

1 At that time, an oracle of Yahweh, I will be God to all the families Israel,
and they, they will be my people.

2 C Thus says Yahweh, the people who survived the sword found grace in the wilderness.
For Israel, I went to find him a moment of ease.
3e 4C 17
9
3 From afar Yahweh appeared to me,
And with the love of eras past I have loved you, therefore I have drawn you with kindness.
3e 4C 8
16
4 C Yet again I will build you, and you will be built, O virgin Israel.
Yet again you will be decked with your timbrels, and willl go forth in a dance of laughter.
3e 4C 12
15
5 C Yet again you will plant vineyards on the mountains of Samaria.
The planters will plant and they will eat from the start.
3e 4C 11
8
6 B For there is a day observers called in mount Ephraim,
Arise and let us go up to Zion, to Yahweh our God.
3e 4C 12
15
7 Because thus says Yahweh, Shout for joy, for Jacob gladness, and be bright as the top of the nations.
Broadcast, praise, and say, Save, Yahweh, your people, the residue of Israel.
3e 4C 23
22
8 Note me well. I will bring them from the land of the north, and I will collect them from the flanks of the earth. In them, blind and lame, pregnant and begetting together,
a great congregation. They will return here.
3e 4C 35
9
9 With weeping they will come, and with supplications I will escort them. I will have them walk by torrents of water in a way that is upright. They will not stumble in it.
For I am to Israel as a father and Ephraim, he is my firstborn.
3e 4C 30
16
10 Hear the word of Yahweh, O nations, and make clear in the coasts from afar,
and say, Who sifted Israel will collect him, and will keep him as a shepherd his troop.
3e 4C 18
21
11 For Yahweh has ransomed Jacob,
and has redeemed him from a hand that was more resolute than he.
3e 4A 8
10
12 And they will come and shout for joy on the high ground of Zion, and will flow together to the goodness of Yahweh over grain, and over new wine, and over clarified oil, and over the little ones of flock and herd,
and their being will be as a garden saturated, and they will not add to drooping any more.
3e 4C 37
18
13 B Then will a virgin be glad in the dance, both young men and old together,
and I will change their lament to joy, and will comfort them, and make them glad from their sadness.
3e 4C 18
20
14 And I will saturate the being of the priests with fatness,
and my people with my good will be satisfied, an oracle of Yahweh.
3d 4A 12
13
15 B Thus says Yahweh, A voice in Ramah was heard moaning, bitter weeping, Rachel weeping over her children.
She would not be comforted over her children for they were not.
3d 4C 27
15
16 B Thus says Yahweh, Withhold your voice from weeping and your eyes from tears,
for there is a wage for your work, an oracle of Yahweh, and they will return from the land of the enemy.
3e 4C 19
20
17 And there is expectation for your tomorrow, an oracle of Yahweh,
and children will return to their border.
3e 4A 13
8
18 I have heard Ephraim asking for sympathy. You have chastened me and I was chastened as a calf untaught.
Have me turn and I will return, for you Yahweh are my God.
3e 4B 25
16
19 For after I was returned, I was comforted, and after I was given knowledge, I cuffed on a thigh.
I was ashamed and even humiliated, for I have borne the reproach of my youth.
3e 4C 21
16
20 Is Ephraim my precious son or a reveling boy? For as often as I speak against him, remembering, I remember him still,
therefore my inner parts murmur for him. Compassion, I will have compassion on him, an oracle of Yahweh.
3e 4C 26
17

21 Stand firm for yourself by cairns. Set for yourself signposts. Set your heart toward the highway, the journey you have walked.
Return, O virgin Israel, return to these your cities.
3c 4C 25
16
22 How long will you curve away, O turncoat daughter?
For Yahweh has created a new thing in the land, female surrounds valour.
3e 4C 13
18
23 Thus says Yahweh of hosts, the God of Israel, Continue, they will say, this thing in the land of Judah and in its cities when I turn their captivity.
Yahweh will bless you, the home of righteousness, the holy hill.
3c 4C 39
14
24 And they will inhabit in her, Judah and all its cities together,
farmers and they who pull out with troops.
3d 4A 13
9
25 f For I have saturated an exhausted throat,
and every drooping throat I have filled.
3e 4B 9
10

and my sleep was sweet to me.
3e 4B 9
6
27 Behold, days are coming, an oracle of Yahweh,
when I will sow the house of Israel and the house of Judah with human seed and cattle seed.
3d 4C 10
25
28 And it will happen that as I was vigilant over them to blot out, and to break off, and to overthrow, and to eliminate, and to injure,
so I will be vigilant over them to build and to plant, an oracle of Yahweh.
3c 4B 29
16
29 In days those they will not say any more, Parents ate sour grape,
and the teeth of children are dull.
3e 4B 15
8
30 d Rather, each in its iniquity will die.
Every human eating sour grape his teeth will be dull.
3d 4A 9
15
31 Behold, days are coming, an oracle of Yahweh,
when I will cut with the house of Israel and the house of Judah a new covenant.
3c 4A 10
20
32 B Not according to the covenant that I cut with their ancestors on the day I held resolutely their hands to bring them out from the land of Egypt,
my covenant which they themselves have thwarted, and I myself was husband among them, an oracle of Yahweh.
3d 4C 31
23
33 B But this is the covenant which I will cut with the house of Israel after those days, an oracle of Yahweh. I will give my instruction in their entrails, and over their heart I will write it,
and I will be their God and they they will be my people.
3e 4C 43
17

34 Nor will they teach any more each his associate and each his kin, saying, Know Yahweh,
for all of them will know me, from the least and to the greatest of them, an oracle of Yahweh. For I will forgive their iniquity, and their sin I will not remember any more.
3c 4C 23
34
35 B Thus says Yahweh, giving the sun for a light by day, decreeing moon and stars for a light by night,
Uneasy is the sea and its waves murmur, Yahweh of hosts is his name,
3d 4C 26
17
36 If these statutes deviate from my presence, an oracle of Yahweh,
even the seed of Israel will cease from being a nation in my presence every day.
3d 4A 17
20

37 B Thus says Yahweh, if are measured, the heavens upward, and are examined, the foundations of earth downward,
even I, I will refuse all the seed of Israel concerning all that they did, an oracle of Yahweh.
3c 4C 24
22
38 Behold, days are coming, an oracle of Yahweh, that the city to Yahweh will be built, from the tower of Hananeel, the gate of the corner. 3d 4C 10
19

39 And a line measuring will go forth yet again before it over the scabbed hillocks,
and will circle toward Goah.
3e 4C 15
6

40 And all the valley of the carcasses and the fat, and all the fields to the wadi of the Kidron, to the corner of the gate of the horses toward the sunrise will be holy to Yahweh.
It will not be blotted out and will not be overthrown any more for ever.
