Verse 2, a suggestive name.
Verse 13, their little ones, their wives, and their children (בן). Compare 2 Chronicles 31:18, Jeremiah 14:16, 1 Samuel 30:3 their wives and their sons (בן) and their daughters, and Numbers 16:27 their wives and their children (בן), and their little ones. These 5 verses reflect a merism of family.
I always wondered where the Advent response came from, tomorrow go ye forth and the Lord, he will be with you. And lo and behold, here it is. Now why would these words be used? The Salvation of Yahweh is to be with them. Salvation is Yeshua. Why does the Advent sentence leave that out?
It would not be hard to imagine our families cowering before odds that seem to great for us: mental illness, addictions, accidents, diseases of infinite variety, or cancer, belligerent bombast bullies ruling, poverty, trauma. Advent should be a time of encouragement. (These enemies are worth the battle. Some of them could also be friends in disguise.)
Verse 20: note the instruction in the second part of the verse: imperative, passive, imperative, imperative. The tenses must suggest that we avoid a simplistic parallelism. No English translation that I have looked at renders prosper as imperative. I don't do Greek but it looks like an imperative to me.
Note the choir also. The Chronicler seems to like music as a weapon of war. The song in verse 21 (4 times in Chronicles, once in Jeremiah, once in Ezra) recurs frequently in the Psalms especially 136. I rendered it two ways there, 27 times as Because forever is his kindness, words in Hebrew sequence and the remaining 6 times (106, 107, 118) in other Psalms as For his kindness is forever, words in a more traditional English sequence. I anticipated the Hebrew order in Psalm 136 the one time it occurs partially in Psalm 100. I don't really have any excuse for the English order - since clearly Hebrew order will follow the music better, but I was consistently inconsistent! I have used the English order always except for Psalm 136.
The honour (הדר) of holiness is my choice rather than the beauty (יפה) of holiness. I am not allowing myself to be free with apparent synonyms. honour and beauty are quite different animals in my opinion and their stems are different. Traditional glosses are randomly inconsistent.
Verse 25, these difficult enemies might destroy themselves. Thinking of cancer today and the Nobel prize for immunotherapy. (But the raw story is more fear, tribal warfare, looting, and destruction, whatever metaphor is made of it! Note the universal of Yahweh's rule, and the destructive role of Yahweh to those he governs in all the nations.)
