2 Kings 5

Lots of interesting difficulty with this chapter. Did the language change? פקד is such a flexible stem. I have been forced into a circumlocution to avoid overlaps with other stems. Yet none of the dominant glosses for this stem fits the situation of verse 24. אסף is another stem with an unexpected twist designating healing. I have used its dominant gloss gather. But the reader needs to think about it. (I do write to slow us readers down.) Renewed? It is a stem that frames the fourth book of the Psalms. I don't let it designate much else except renewal (adapt, 3 times, blade in one place in Ezra.) Note that take and receive are the same stem  Verse 19 gives me trouble too. What is כברת־ארץ? pondering still - perhaps best to be consistent with Genesis 35 and 48... And look at Naaman falling נפל from the chariot. No, he did not fall, he alighted. But it says fall. Verse 23 also has words that stretch my glosses. Verse 24 promontory, may be just a place name.

1 ~ Naaman, chief of the host of the king of Aram, was a great man before his master, and was accorded preference, for in him Yahweh gave salvation to Aram.
And the man was a valiant and wealthy leper.

12
2 And Aram had brought out raiding parties and taken captive from the land of Israel a young lass.
And she was in the presence of the wife of Naaman.
3d 4B 23
9
3 And she said to her mistress, Ah that my lord was in the presence of the prophet that is in Samaria.
Then he would gather from him his leprosy.
3d 4B 23
10
4 And someone came and told his master, saying,
Such as this and like this, spoke the lass who is from the land of Israel.
3e 4C 11
19
5 And the king of Aram said, Go. Enter. And I will send out correspondence to the king of Israel.
So he went, and he took in his hand ten talents of silver, and six thousand of gold, and ten renewed garments.
3e 4C 21
31
6 And he brought the correspondence to the king of Israel, saying,
And now, when this correspondence comes to you, behold, I have sent to you Naaman my servant, that you may gather him from his leprosy.
3e 4C 14
35
7 And it happened when the king of Israel recited the correspondence, that he ripped his garments and said, Am I God to put to death and to revive, that this he sent to me, to gather a man from his leprosy?
For but know now, and see, that he is taking an opportunity against me.
3e 4C 50
12
8 And it happened when Elisha, the man of God, heard that the king of Israel had ripped his garments, that he sent to the king, to say, Why would you rip your garments?
Come, if you will, to me, and he will know that there is a prophet in Israel.
3d 4C 42
15
9 And Naaman came with his horses and with his chariot,
and stood at the door of the house of Elisha.
3e 4B 12
13
10 And Elisha sent to him a messenger, saying,
Go. Wash yourself seven times in the Jordan, and your flesh will return to you and be clean.
3c 4C 12
24
11 And Naaman was enraged.
So he went and he said, Behold, I figured, to me he would come out, and stand, then call in the name of Yahweh his God, and would elevate his hand into the place, and the leprosy would be gathered.

42
12 Are not Amana and Pharpar the rivers of Damascus as good as any of the waters of Israel? Do I not wash in them and get clean?
So he did an about-face and he went off in a huff.
3e 4B 32
9
13 And his servants came close and they spoke to him, and they said, My father, a great thing the prophet spoke to you, would you not do?
So also, that he said to you, Wash, and be clean.
3d 4B 33
11
14 And he descended and he dipped in the Jordan seven times, as the man of God had spoken,
and his flesh was restored as the flesh of a young lad, and he was clean.
3d 4C 21
15
15 And he returned to the man of God, he and all his army, and he came and he stood before him, and said, Behold, if you will, I know that there is no God in all the earth except in Israel.
And now take, if you will, a blessing from your servant.
3d 4C 51
13
16 And he said, Yahweh lives before whom I stand, I will not receive.
And he urged him to receive, and he would not.
3d 4A 18
10

17 And Naaman said, And will he not permit, if you will, your servant, the load for a pair of mules, of the ground,
for your servant will not do any more going up and offering to other gods, except to Yahweh.
3e 4C 25
24
18 For this matter, Yahweh forgive your servant.
When my lord enters the house of Rimmon to worship there, and he leans on my hand, and I worship in the house of Rimmon. When I worship in the house of Rimmon, Yahweh forgive your servant in this matter.
3e 4B 13
54
19 And he said to him, Go in peace.
And he went from him a great deal of land.
3e 4B 8
10
20 And Gehazi, the lad of Elisha, the man of God, said, Behold my lord has resisted Naaman, this Aramaean, to receive from his hand what he had brought.
Yahweh lives, but I would rather race behind him, and I will receive from him whatever.
3e 4C 44
21
21 And Gehazi pursued after Naaman.
And Naaman saw a racer behind him, and he fell from the chariot to encounter him, and he said, Is it well?
3c 4C 12
28
22 And he said, Peace. My lord has sent me, saying, Behold, this minute, two of the lads of mount Ephraim among the children of the prophets have come to me.
Give, please, to them a talent of silver and two renewed garments.
3c 4C 37
17
23 And Naaman said, Be content. Take two talents.
And he broke it out, and he consolidated two talents of silver in two pockets, and two renewed garments, that he gave to two of his lads, that they bore before him.
3e 4B 13
39
24 And he came to the promontory, and he took from their hand, to entrust in the house,
and he sent the men away, and they went.
3e 4B 19
12
25 And he entered and he stood by his master, and to him Elisha said, From where, Gehazi?
And he said, Your servant went nowhere whatever.
3e 4C 24
13

26 And he said to him, Did my heart not go when a man turned from his chariot to encounter you?
Is it time to receive the silver or to receive garments, or olive trees, or vineyards, or sheep, or oxen, or male servants, or female servants?
3c 4C 24
34
27 The leprosy of Naaman will cleave in you, and in your seed, forever.
And he went out from his presence a leper, like snow.
