Verse 10 has a strange use of עצם normally bones or numerous, but in this case something one does to eyes. Of course one can close them or blind them, but one would not need to use עצם for that action. So I thought of using bone as a verb. But staunch might just work. It is used by Isaiah in a similar sense in 33:15.

Note that ruthless and panic are the same stem ערץ. I am not at liberty to use fear in verse 23.
