1 Kings 17

The thin wafer צפחת of oil? What is it? Thin wafer is like the manna. Maybe it was a tiny amount in a big keg. But if I write keg, we might think of beer or a steak dinner! If I write wafer, you will be brought up short and won't take the word for granted. Here's where it is used. A relatively rare word.
Exodus

The woman;s question in verse 18 is apt for us. What have we to do with the word of God but to see our sin and worry about our children! Elijah's answer is not magical but realistic. A proper complaint face to face, like the psalms. There's no one word to distinguish this. It's an honest question.

In KJV, if a human hears with the voice of God, it gets rendered as obey, but if God hears with the voice of a human, it gets rendered as heard? O well. I used obey for יקה. So I use hear with voice when שׁמע is followed by בקול.

1 And Elijah the Tishbite from the inhabitants of Gilead said to Ahab, As Yahweh lives, the God of Israel before whom I stand, there will not be dew or rain these years,
except by the mandate of my words.

Behold, I have commanded there a widow woman to nourish you.

12 And she said, As Yahweh your God lives, There is for me nothing seethed, but rather a full palm of flour in a pitcher, and a little oil in a thin wafer.
And behold me raking together two bits of wood, that I may go in and make it for me and for my child. And we will eat it, then we will die.

until the day Yahweh gives showers over the face of the ground.

and his illness was very resolute, till there was left in him, no breath.
