Jeremiah 45

A word to the scribe via the prophet from Yahweh. Shall I listen in?

My next target is to have at least 1 chapter of every book read online. And we have an upcoming lesson on Jeremiah as part of an advent series by a very fine colleague. I had better prepare a little.

We need to study more about the spoils of war wherever we go... My 'being' encompasses much: are we all such spoil? We are about to sponsor someone whose life may be thought of as snatched from war. That is booty, but it is not necessarily without sadness, sorrow, weariness, and sighing. Bless God indeed, but seek for and expect more than spoil.

Jeremiah 45 Fn Min Max Syll
1 The word that Jeremiah the prophet spoke to Baruch, child of Neriah,
when he had written these words in the record from the mouth of Jeremiah, in the fourth year of Jehoiachim child of Josiah king of Judah, saying,

2 Thus says Yahweh the God of Israel,
to you Baruch.

3 You said, Woe now for me for Yahweh will add sadness to my sorrow.
I am weary with my sighing and rest I have not found.

4 B Thus you say to him: Thus says Yahweh, Note well. What I have built I overthrow, and what I have planted I will blot out,
and all this land.
3e 4C 32

5 But you, do you seek for yourself greatness? do not seek.
For note me well, I will bring evil on all flesh, an oracle of Yahweh, but I will give to you your being as spoil in all the places where you walk.

There is a lot of reported speech. Here is the recurrence structure, pretty much as might be expected. Note the focus on 'seek'.
