Hosea 1

The first chapter of Hosea is 2 verses shorter than English versions. These verses will show up in chapter 2.

This is like other prophecies, a lived parable. Words happen. They have an impact. So do the action in love and love will happen. Love the stranger who lives among you. (One of the gems of Leviticus - we haven't got there yet, though good Jewish children read Leviticus first). Hosea is describing the consequences of income inequality.

Hosea 1
1 The word of Yahweh that happened to Hosea, child of Beeri, in the days of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, Hezekiah, kings of Judah,
and in the days of Jeroboam, child of Joash, king of Israel.
34
14
2 The commencement of the word of Yahweh in Hosea. P
And Yahweh said to Hosea, Go, take for yourself a wife of prostitution and succession of prostitution, for in prostitution the land is prostituting itself from following Yahweh.
12
38
3 So he went and he took Gomer, daughter of Diblaim,
and she became pregnant, and she gave birth for him a son.
13
8
4 And said Yahweh to him, Call his name Jezreel,
for yet a little, then I will visit the blood of Jezreel over the house of Jehu, and I will eradicate the kingdoms of the house of Israel.
15
30
5 And it will happen in that day,
and I will break the bow of Israel in the valley of Jezreel.
7
17
6 And she still became pregnant, and she gave birth to a daughter, and he said to him, Call her name Not-Compassion, for I will not again any more have compassion for the house of Israel, for they will be lifted up and borne away. 20
20
7 But the house of Judah I will have compassion for, and I will save them in Yahweh their God,
and will not save them by the bow or by the sword or by war, by horses or by cavalry.
19
22
8 And she weaned Not-Compassion,
and she became pregnant and she gave birth to a son.
8
7
9 And he said, Call his name Not-My-People,
for you are not my people and I myself am not yours.
