Psalms 98

The Psalm for Sunday May the 6th 2018. Year B, 6th Sunday of Easter.

Performance here. You can frequently see and hear the errors in the text that Haïk-Vantoura was using. Several spurious methegs have caused the musical line to return to the tonic when it should not. These were added for pronunciation reasons in the period between the Leningrad codex and the Letteris edition (date circa mid 19th century) that she is using. I am glad it did not deter her from finding the key she has found. Nothing comes closer than her key to interpreting the phrasing and harmonic structure of the accents. Aleppo would be an even better source but the music has been created from the online Leningrad codex using their web-services interface. That was a far-sighted technical addition to that site. Bravo!
