2 Samuel 2

Two stems particularly close in sound. צחק sport (11), שׂחק laugh (23) laughter (11) gambol (7) amuse (1) hilarity (1) laughingstock (1) tease (1)

Ashael/Asael is spelled two ways, as a single word and as a hyphenated word. So I spelled it two ways also. The letter is ש not שׁ.

פקד seemed to require another gloss (but it didn't). It has 17 glosses counted in KJV by BLB. Not to mention the 28 under miscellaneous. I have at the moment, 6: visit (107) conscript (105) office (31) entrust (30) precept (24) census (1). Any of these that have a count of 1, I revisit to see if it is justified as a unique reading caused by the artifice of translating.

2 Samuel 2 Fn Min Max Syll
1 And it was after such that David asked in Yahweh, saying, Will I go up into one of the cities of Judah? And Yahweh said to him, Go up.
And David said, Where should I go up? And he said, To Hebron.

2 And David went up there, and moreover, his two wives,
Axinoam the Jezreelite, and Abigail, wife of Nabal the Carmelite.
3e 4C 12
22
3 And David brought up his men who were with him, each person and his household,
and they settled in the cities of Hebron.
3c 4B 17
8
4 And the men of Judah came and there they anointed David king over the house of Judah,
and they told David, saying, The men of Jabesh Gilead were the ones who entombed Saul.
3c 4C 24
22
5 And David sent messengers to the men of Jabesh Gilead,
and he said to them, Blessed you are of Yahweh that you have done this kindness with your master, with Saul, and have entombed him.
3e 4C 15
37

6 And now Yahweh will deal with you in kindness and truth,
and moreover, I myself will do to you this good, that you have done this thing.

25
7 So now let your hands be encouraged and be children of ability, for Saul your master is dead,
and moreover, the house of Judah have anointed me to be king over them.

8 But Abner child of Ner, a noble of the host that belonged to Saul,
took Ishboshet, child of Saul, and had him cross over to Two-Armies.

19

9 And made him king of the Gilead, and of the Ashurites, and of Jezreel,
and over Ephraim and over Benjamin and over all Israel.

10 A child of a forty year span was Ishboshet, child of Saul, when he began to reign over Israel, and two years he reigned.
But the house of Judah was following David.
3e 4C 25
12

11 And this is the count of the days that David was king in Hebron over the house of Judah,
seven years and six months.
3d 4B 23
10

12 And Abner, child of Ner, and the servants of Ishboshet, child of Saul, went out,
from Two-Armies to Gibeon.
3e 4B 16
7
13 And Joab, child of Tseruyah, and the servants of David went out and met together over the blessing pool of Gibeon, as one.
And these sat by the blessing pool from this point of view and these by the blessing from that point of view.
3d 4C 26
20
14 And Abner said to Joab, Let the lads arise, if you will, and let them amuse themselves before us.
And Joab said, Let them arise.
3e 4C 23
8
15 And they arose and they crossed over, by the count,
twelve of Benjamin and of Ishboshet child of Saul, and twelve from the servants of David.
3c 4B 11
24
16 And they were resolute, each by the head of his friend, and his sword in the side of his friend,
and they fell as one, and that place is called, the sharing of the neck, that is in Gibeon.
3e 4B 24
18
17 And there was excessively hard battle in that day,
and Abner was plagued, and the men of Israel, in the face of the servants of David.
3c 4C 15
18
18 And three children of Tseruyah were there, Joab, and Abishai, and Ashael,
and Ashael was as fleet of foot as any gazelle that is in the field.
3e 4B 22
19
19 And Ashael pursued after Abner,
and he did not bend to go to the right or to the left from following Abner.
3e 4B 11
21
20 And Abner faced behind him and said, Is this you, Ashael?
And he said, It is I.
3e 4C 18
6
21 And Abner said to him, You push off to your right hand or to your left, and grasp for yourself one from the lads, then take for yourself his gear.
But Ashael did not consent to turn aside from following him.
3c 4C 40
12
22 And again further, Abner said to Ashael, Turn aside for yourself from following me.
Why should I strike you earthward? How then would I lift up my face to Joab your brother.
3c 4C 19
19
23 But he would not turn aside. And Abner struck him with the butt end of the spear in the fifth rib, and the spear came out from behind him, and he fell there and he died under him.
And it happened that all that enter the place where Ashael fell and died, that they stand still.
3c 4C 41
25
24 And Joab and Abishai pursued after Abner.
And the sun set, and they, they came to the Hillock of the Clan that is over before Burst, the way of the wilderness of Gibeon.
3d 4C 15
28
25 And the children of Benjamin collected themselves after Abner, and became one bunch,
and they stood on the top of one hillock.
3e 4C 23
10
26 And Abner called to Joab and said, Will sword devour in perpetuity? Do you not know that it will be bitterness in the aftermath?
And how long will you fail to say to the people to turn from following their kin?
3e 4B 33
17
27 And Joab said, God lives, because if you had not spoken,
then in the morning, the people would have gone up, each following his kin.
3e 4C 16
18
28 And Joab sounded the shophar, and all the people stood still, and did not pursue any more after Israel,
and not again added any more to war.
3e 4C 27
9
29 And Abner and his men walked in the steppe all that night long,
and they crossed over the Jordan, and went all the rugged way, and came to Two-Armies.
3e 4B 19
22
30 And Joab returned from following Abner, and he collected all the people,
and nineteen persons had been visited from the servants of David, and Asael.
3d 4C 17
18
31 And the servants of David struck from Benjamin and among the men of Abner.
Three hundred and sixty persons died.
3c 4B 16
10
32 And they lifted up Ashael, and they entombed him in the tomb of his father, that was in Bethlehem.
And all the night long Joab and his men walked, and there was first light for them in Hebron.
