Genesis 47

Joseph and the monopoly on food.

Genesis 47 Fn Min Max Syll
1 And Joseph came and he told Pharaoh, saying, My father and my brothers and their flocks and their herds and all that is theirs, have come from the land of Canaan.
And behold, they are in the land of Goshen.

2 And limiting his kin, he took five men,
and exhibited them before Pharaoh.
3e 4B 13
8
3 And Pharaoh said to his kin, What do you do?
And they said to Pharaoh, Shepherding of sheep, your servants, both ourselves, also our ancestors.
3c 4B 13
22
4 And they said to Pharaoh, to reside in the land we have come, because there was no pasture for the flock that was for your servants, for heavy was the famine in the land of Canaan.
So now please let your servants settle in the land of Goshen.
3d 4B 37
14
5 And Pharaoh said to Joseph, saying,
Your father and your kin came to you.
3e 4B 10
12

6 C The land of Egypt, before you it is. From the best of the land, have your father and your kin settle.
Let them settle in the land of Goshen. and if you know if there are among them persons of ability, then put them as chiefs over the livestock that are mine.

7 And Joseph had Jacob his father come and had him stand before Pharaoh.
And Jacob blessed Pharaoh.
3e 4C 21
9
8 And Pharaoh said to Jacob,
How many days are the years of your life?
3e 4A 9
9
9 And Jacob said to Pharaoh, The days of the years of my residing are a hundred and thirty years.
Few and evil have been the days of the years of my life, and they have not overtaken the days of the years of the lives of my fathers, in the days of their residing.
3e 4C 23
34
10 And Jacob blessed Pharaoh,
and went forth from the presence of Pharaoh.
3e 4A 9
8
11 And Joseph settled his father and his kin, and he gave to them a holding in the land of Egypt from the best of the land in the land of Raamses,
as Pharaoh had commanded.
3e 4C 37
7
12 And Joseph nourished his father and his kin, and all the house of his father,
bread in proportion to the little ones.
3e 4C 18
6
13 And there was no bread in all the land, for very heavy was the famine,
and there was consternation in the land of Egypt and the land of Canaan in the face of the famine.
3e 4C 16
18
14 And Joseph picked up all the money that was found in in the land of Egypt and in the land of Canaan, in return for the crushed corn that they were procuring.
And Joseph brought the money to the house of Pharaoh.
3d 4C 32
13
15 And when the money was completely used up from the land of Egypt and from the land of Canaan, all Egypt came to Joseph, saying, Provide bread for us, for why should we die before you,
for money has come to an end.
3e 4C 43
5
16 And Joseph said, Provide your livestock and I will give to you for your livestock,
if money has come to an end.
3e 4C 19
5
17 And they brought their livestock to Joseph, and Joseph gave them bread for horses, and for livestock of the flock, and for livestock of the herd, and for asses,
and he refreshed them with bread for all their livestock in that year.
3d 4C 39
17
18 And when that year was completed, they came to him in the second year, and they said to him, We will not conceal from my lord, but completely spent is the money, and the livestock of the cattle are to my lord.
There is no trace before my lord, nothing except our bodies and our ground.
3e 4C 47
21
19 c Why should we die in your sight, both ourselves, also our ground? Purchase us and our ground for bread,
and we will be, we and our ground, servants to Pharaoh. And give seed that we may live and not die, and the ground not be desolate.
3c 4C 31
36
20 And Joseph bought all the ground of Egypt for Pharaoh, for Egypt sold, each his field. For over them the famine was resolute,
and the land became Pharaoh's.
3e 4C 31
8
21 And the people, he had them transferred to the cities,
from the extremity of the border of Egypt and to its limit.
3e 4A 12
11
22 d Solely the ground of the priests he did not purchase,
because of a statute for the priests from Pharaoh and they ate based on their statute as Pharaoh gave to them, so they did not sell their ground.
3d 4C 10
33
23 And Joseph said to the people, Lo I have acquired you today and your ground for Pharaoh.
Here then is seed for you, and you will sow the ground.
3d 4C 24
13
24 And it will be from its income, you will give a fifth to Pharaoh,
and four hands will be for you, for seeding the field, and for your food, and to those who are in your houses, and for food for your little ones.
3c 4B 15
35
25 And they said, You have kept us alive.
Let us find grace in the eyes of my lord, and we will be servants to Pharaoh.
3e 4B 8
19
26 And Joseph set it up as a statute to this day over the ground of Egypt, for Pharaoh a fifth.
Solely the ground of the priests, theirs alone, did not become Pharaoh's.
3d 4C 25
16
27 And Israel settled in the land of Egypt, in the land Goshen,
and had holdings in it. And they were fruitful and were much increased.
3c 4B 16
14
28 And Jacob lived in the land of Egypt seventeen years,
and the days of Jacob, the years of his life were a hundred and forty seven years.
3e 4C 16
22
29 And the days of Israel approached to die, and he called for his son Joseph, saying to him, If, please, I have found grace in your eyes, set, if you will, your hand under my thigh,
and deal with me kindly and truly. Please do not entomb me in Egypt.
3e 4C 42
22
30 But I would lie down with my fathers, so lift me up from Egypt, and entomb me in their tomb,
and he said, I myself will do according to your word.
3e 4A 23
13
31 And he said, Swear to me. And he swore to him.
And Israel prostrated himself on the head of the couch.
