Ezekiel 27

The description is of a ship אניה wrecked. While it is nice to think of the proud I am the perfection of beauty, אני could also be a spelling error for ship. JB adds the word in. It is a help in seeing the metaphor even when left out. I would have to add the word to the Hebrew. It's not in the puzzle, so I won't. But what if a word that was in the puzzle joined to another word and disappeared into it? There is an example in verse 6 בַּת־אֲשֻׁרִ֔ים daughter of Ashurim? JB and NIV have something about inlay of ivory. BDB suggests reading without the maqaf (hyphen) בתאשׁרים, with boxwood.

Pannag פנג, JB has wax (דנג). NIV confections. Wax is a reasonable correction.

What to do with אזל a stem used in Aramaic passages for go, went, gone, but a sense in Hebrew of deplete, evaporate. Perhaps for Ezekiel they overlap since he likely knew both tongues. Or is it a location name? Here the accent assists as always in dividing the problem.

Our world is obsessed with the markets. And I think our faces are thunderous when they crash.
