2 Kings 4

What is the difference between a corrected translation, an unintelligible Hebrew and a conjectural translation? JB has the note conjectural against verse 42.

There is a sequence of care for the widows, generosity and surplus, healing and a miraculous feeding that parallels the Gospels. See also Proto-Luke, The Oldest Gospel Account, by Thomas L. Brodie, Dominican Biblical Institute, Limerick Ireland. ISBN 0-933462-09-3. (A handout at SBL San Diego some years ago - still on my desk, still needs studying!)

Remember when I had over 75000 unknowns. Now I am at 256. These are like puzzle pieces I have not yet turned over. There is no guess for the word. Several common stems in this chapter took on new glosses. Something new even when one thinks one is finished. Verse 4 decant for יצק, set to one side for נסע, normally pull out or migrate. Verse 10, chair for כסא throne. I ended up using decant frequently and even changed an earlier usage. My constraint is that I used pour out for שׁפך.

I hope to explore the data more fully by stem and groups of stems when I am done. The shape of the puzzle may morph a bit.
