Verse 7 - I do not need to be so literal with numbers, but this is here just for fun and for the music. Rashi has this note: When he was one hundred years old, he was as one who is seventy years old, and when he was seventy years old, he was as one who is five years old, without sin. [Rashi may not have experienced the inconvenience or the demands of a 5 year old.]

Verse 18: did he fall or did he fall out with all his kin? JB reads: he set himself to defy all his brothers. The above site translates נפל as dwelt. If we compare Judges 7:12 as noted, a sense of נפל as being in a state of living somewhere is reasonable. My gloss is awkward. It will probably change and it may change my mind about some other uses of נפל.

Verse 27: one of my key words תמם, complete. Jacob is called complete. I have no alternative for this word. It would take more than one example to convince me to put in a second gloss. JB, NIV have quiet, KJV has plain. Just bear in mind that these folks are making a decision for us. We don't have to agree.

הַשָּׂדֶ֛ה אֲשֶׁר קָנָ֥ה אַבְרָהָ֖ם מֵאֵ֣ת בְּנֵי חֵ֑ת שָׁ֛מָּה קֻבַּ֥ר אַבְרָהָ֖ם וְשָׂרָ֥ה אִשְׁתּֽוֹ	10		The field that Abraham purchased from the children of Heit. There Abraham was entombed, and Sarah his wife.	3d	4B	15 12

וְאֵ֛לֶּה תֹּלְדֹ֥ת יִשְׁמָעֵ֖אל בֶּן אַבְרָהָ֑ם אֲשֶׁ֨ר יָלְדָ֜ה הָגָ֧ר הַמִּצְרִ֛ית שִׁפְחַ֥ת שָׂרָ֖ה לְאַבְרָהָֽם	12		And these are the successions of Yishmaeil child of Abraham, that Hagar gave birth to, the Egyptian handmaid of Sarah, for Abraham.	3c	4A	13 17
וְאֵ֗לֶּה שְׁמוֹת֙ בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׁמָעֵ֔אל בִּשְׁמֹתָ֖ם לְתוֹלְדֹתָ֑ם בְּכֹ֤ר יִשְׁמָעֵאל֙ נְבָיֹ֔ת וְקֵדָ֥ר וְאַדְבְּאֵ֖ל וּמִבְשָֽׂם	13		And these are the names of the children of Yishmaeil, by their names in their successions, the firstborn of Yishmaeil, Nbayot, and Qedar, and Adbe'el, and Mivsam.	3e	4C	18 19

וְאֵ֗לֶּה שְׁנֵי֙ חַיֵּ֣י יִשְׁמָעֵ֔אל מְאַ֥ת שָׁנָ֛ה וּשְׁלֹשִׁ֥ים שָׁנָ֖ה וְשֶׁ֣בַע שָׁנִ֑ים וַיִּגְוַ֣ע וַיָּ֔מָת וַיֵּאָ֖סֶף אֶל עַמָּֽיו	17		And these are the years of the life of Yishmaeil, a hundred and thirty seven years, and he expired, and he died and was gathered to his people.	3d	4B	25 13
וַיִּשְׁכְּנ֨וּ מֵֽחֲוִילָ֜ה עַד שׁ֗וּר אֲשֶׁר֙ עַל פְּנֵ֣י מִצְרַ֔יִם בֹּאֲכָ֖ה אַשּׁ֑וּרָה עַל פְּנֵ֥י כָל אֶחָ֖יו נָפָֽל	18		And they dwelt from Havilah to Shur that faces Egypt as one enters Ashur. In the face of all his kin, he was fallen.	3e	4B	22 8
וְאֵ֛לֶּה תּוֹלְדֹ֥ת יִצְחָ֖ק בֶּן אַבְרָהָ֑ם אַבְרָהָ֖ם הוֹלִ֥יד אֶת יִצְחָֽק	19		And these are the successions of Yitschaq child of Abraham. Abraham had Yitschaq.	3d	4A	11 8
וַיְהִ֤י יִצְחָק֙ בֶּן אַרְבָּעִ֣ים שָׁנָ֔ה בְּקַחְתּ֣וֹ אֶת רִבְקָ֗ה בַּת בְּתוּאֵל֙ הָֽאֲרַמִּ֔י מִפַּדַּ֖ן אֲרָ֑ם אֲח֛וֹת לָבָ֥ן הָאֲרַמִּ֖י ל֥וֹ לְאִשָּֽׁה	20		And Yitschaq was a child of a forty year span when he took Rebekah the daughter of Bethuel the Aramaean from Padan Aram, the sister of Laban the Aramaean, for his wife.	3d	4C	29 12
וַיֶּעְתַּ֨ר יִצְחָ֤ק לַֽיהוָה֙ לְנֹ֣כַח אִשְׁתּ֔וֹ כִּ֥י עֲקָרָ֖ה הִ֑וא וַיֵּעָ֤תֶר לוֹ֙ יְהוָ֔ה וַתַּ֖הַר רִבְקָ֥ה אִשְׁתּֽוֹ	21		And Yitschaq petitioned to Yahweh forthrightly for his wife, for she was barren. And Yahweh was petitioned for him, and Rebekah his wife became pregnant.	3e	4C	17 14
וַיִּתְרֹֽצֲצ֤וּ הַבָּנִים֙ בְּקִרְבָּ֔הּ וַתֹּ֣אמֶר אִם כֵּ֔ן לָ֥מָּה זֶּ֖ה אָנֹ֑כִי וַתֵּ֖לֶךְ לִדְרֹ֥שׁ אֶת יְהוָֽה	22		And the children competed within her, and she said, If such, why is this me? And she went to search out Yahweh.	3e	4C	22 8
וַיֹּ֨אמֶר יְהוָ֜ה לָ֗הּ שְׁנֵ֤י גוֹיִם֙ בְּבִטְנֵ֔ךְ וּשְׁנֵ֣י לְאֻמִּ֔ים מִמֵּעַ֖יִךְ יִפָּרֵ֑דוּ וּלְאֹם֙ מִלְאֹ֣ם יֶֽאֱמָ֔ץ וְרַ֖ב יַעֲבֹ֥ד צָעִֽיר	23		And Yahweh said to her, Two nations in your belly, and two tribes from your inner parts have separated themselves, and tribe will be more assured than tribe, and the many will serve the small.	3e	4C	26 14
וַיִּמְלְא֥וּ יָמֶ֖יהָ לָלֶ֑דֶת וְהִנֵּ֥ה תוֹמִ֖ם בְּבִטְנָֽהּ	24		And her days were fulfilled to give birth, and behold, twins in her belly.	3e	4A	10 8
וַיֵּצֵ֤א הָרִאשׁוֹן֙ אַדְמוֹנִ֔י כֻּלּ֖וֹ כְּאַדֶּ֣רֶת שֵׂעָ֑ר וַיִּקְרְא֥וּ שְׁמ֖וֹ עֵשָֽׂו	25		And the first emerged ruddy, all of it a majestic cape of hair, and they called his name, Esau.	3e	4C	17 8
וְאַֽחֲרֵי כֵ֞ן יָצָ֣א אָחִ֗יו וְיָד֤וֹ אֹחֶ֙זֶת֙ בַּעֲקֵ֣ב עֵשָׂ֔ו וַיִּקְרָ֥א שְׁמ֖וֹ יַעֲקֹ֑ב וְיִצְחָ֛ק בֶּן שִׁשִּׁ֥ים שָׁנָ֖ה בְּלֶ֥דֶת אֹתָֽם	26		And after such his brother emerged and his hands held fast the heel of Esau, and his name was called Jacob, and Yitschaq was a child of sixty years when she gave birth to them.	3d	4C	28 13
וַֽיִּגְדְּלוּ֙ הַנְּעָרִ֔ים וַיְהִ֣י עֵשָׂ֗ו אִ֛ישׁ יֹדֵ֥עַ צַ֖יִד אִ֣ישׁ שָׂדֶ֑ה וְיַעֲקֹב֙ אִ֣ישׁ תָּ֔ם יֹשֵׁ֖ב אֹהָלִֽים	27		And the lads grew and Esau was a man that knew game, a man of the field, and Jacob was a complete man who settles in tents.	3d	4B	20 11
וַיֶּאֱהַ֥ב יִצְחָ֛ק אֶת עֵשָׂ֖ו כִּי צַ֣יִד בְּפִ֑יו וְרִבְקָ֖ה אֹהֶ֥בֶת אֶֽת יַעֲקֹֽב	28		And Yitschaq loved Esau for the hunt in his mouth, but Rebekah loved Jacob.	3d	4B	14 10
וַיָּ֥זֶד יַעֲקֹ֖ב נָזִ֑יד וַיָּבֹ֥א עֵשָׂ֛ו מִן הַשָּׂדֶ֖ה וְה֥וּא עָיֵֽף	29		And Jacob stewed stew, and Esau had come from the field, and he was exhausted.	3d	4A	8 13
וַיֹּ֨אמֶר עֵשָׂ֜ו אֶֽל יַעֲקֹ֗ב הַלְעִיטֵ֤נִי נָא֙ מִן הָאָדֹ֤ם הָאָדֹם֙ הַזֶּ֔ה כִּ֥י עָיֵ֖ף אָנֹ֑כִי עַל כֵּ֥ן קָרָֽא שְׁמ֖וֹ אֱדֽוֹם	30		And Esau said to Jacob, Ladle if you will, from the ruddy stuff, this ruddy stuff, for I am exhausted. Therefore his name was called Edom.	3e	4C	29 8
וַיֹּ֖אמֶר יַעֲקֹ֑ב מִכְרָ֥ה כַיּ֛וֹם אֶת בְּכֹֽרָתְךָ֖ לִֽי	31		And Jacob said, Sell as of today your birthright to me.	3d	4A	6 10
וַיֹּ֣אמֶר עֵשָׂ֔ו הִנֵּ֛ה אָנֹכִ֥י הוֹלֵ֖ךְ לָמ֑וּת וְלָמָּה זֶּ֥ה לִ֖י בְּכֹרָֽה	32		And Esau said, Behold I myself am going to die, so what is this birthright to me?	3d	4B	14 8
וַיֹּ֣אמֶר יַעֲקֹ֗ב הִשָּׁ֤בְעָה לִּי֙ כַּיּ֔וֹם וַיִּשָּׁבַ֖ע ל֑וֹ וַיִּמְכֹּ֥ר אֶת בְּכֹרָת֖וֹ לְיַעֲקֹֽב	33		And Jacob said, Swear to me as of today. And he swore to him. And he sold his birthright to Jacob.	3e	4C	17 12
וְיַעֲקֹ֞ב נָתַ֣ן לְעֵשָׂ֗ו לֶ֚חֶם וּנְזִ֣יד עֲדָשִׁ֔ים וַיֹּ֣אכַל וַיֵּ֔שְׁתְּ וַיָּ֖קָם וַיֵּלַ֑ךְ וַיִּ֥בֶז עֵשָׂ֖ו אֶת הַבְּכֹרָֽה	34		And Jacob gave Esau bread and lentil stew and he ate and partied, and he arose and he walked away. So Esau despised the birthright.	3e	4C	28 9
