Judges 17

The narrator (by varying the spelling of Micah among other turns of phrase) seems to sound a note of sardonic anticipation for Micah in this chapter, and the Levite sounds like both derelict and sponge.

How curious that a supreme holy would be alluded to in this chapter when there seems to be a certain amount of disorderly behaviour. Perhaps it's time to address the tabernacle and the sacrificial system.

Who is whose father in this odd set of words?

Judges 17
1 And there was a man from the hill of Ephraim, and his name was Mikayahu (Who-is-like-Yah). 13
2 And he said to his mother, the thousand, one hundred silver pieces which was taken of yours, and you sobbed, and even talked of in my ears, behold the silver is with me. I myself took it.
Then said his mother, Blessed be you, my child, of Yahweh.
43
11
3 And he returned the thousand, one hundred silver pieces to his mother.
And his mother said, The holy. I have made the silver holy to Yahweh, from my hands to my son, to make a graven image and of molten metal, so now I will return them to you.
15
38
4 And he returned the silver to his mother.
And his mother took two hundred silver pieces and gave them to the refiner, and he made a graven image and of molten metal, and it was in the house of Mikayahu.
10
34
5 And the man, (who we will call) Micah, his was the house of God.
And he made an ephod and healing images and he filled the hand of one from among his sons, and he become his priest.
10
23
6 In those days there was no king in Israel.
Everyone did what was upright in its own eyes.
12
10
7 And there was a youth from Bethlehem of Judah from the family of Judah, and himself a Levite,
and he was a guest there.
17
8
8 And the man came out of the city, from Bethlehem of Judah, to reside wherever he could find.
And he came to the hill of Ephraim to the house of Micah in the course of his way.
22
15
9 And Micah said to him, From where do you come?
And he said to him, I am a Levite, from Bethlehem of Judah, and I myself walk to reside wherever I can find.
10
30
10 And Micah said to him, Settle with me, and be for me father and priest, and I myself will give to you ten silver pieces for the days, and will arrange your garments and your living.
And the Levite strutted.
46
6
11 And the Levite was humoured to settle with the man.
And the youth became to him as one of his children.
12
12
13 And Micah said, Now I know that Yahweh will do good for me,
for the Levite has become my priest.
