The young woman #Messiah texts Isaiah 7:14

 8. Recitative (Alto) – Behold, a virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Emmanuel, God with us. (cited in Matthew 1:23)

Isaiah 7:14

14 ♪~ Therefore my Lord himself will give for you a sign.
Behold, the young woman is pregnant and will give birth to a son, and you will call his name With-Us-Is-God [Immanu-El].

Here is the first of the texts from the New Testament. Think about the name. Is it believable in the midst of war, famine, overheating, and the persistence of lies? Let it be so that we should find truth. This is good news in any age. Buckets have been written about this verse. The recitation is on the dominant. This gives it a feeling of proclamation.

Grammatically it is obvious from 'therefore' that the verse is connected to the prior verse. The ornament on the first syllable reinforces this in the music.
