Isaiah 30 word by word

I decided to bring forward Isaiah 30 to tomorrow morning. I also published Numbers 31 today noting a post by the Velveteen Rabbi that uses it in the current fracas over refugees.

Here is my word for word for Isaiah 30 - those of you who are real translators, please feel free to tear it apart. Or meditate on it. If you have good suggestions, I will note them in tomorrow's reading.

If we are complicit deliberately or by silence in the incarceration of legal asylum claimants, then we are adding sin on sin (verse 1). There is no escape 'in Christ' for such sin. Get into that fire as part of the timber of generations (verse 33), and stay in it until there is nothing left of your sin. No weapons allowed in the fight except music (voice, timbrel, harp and flute).

The bridegroom awaits your decision to tell your congress people the right message - you can tell right from wrong I hope. Many people prepared all those holding cells. Many are following orders that are crimes against seekers of asylum. These things were prepared when other things distracted the people. The problems result from interventions by the strong against the weak going back decades when we were alive and were also complicit.

When you celebrate your national day, take care that your devotion is not idolatrous.

	11	סורו turn aside מני from דרך the way הטו bend מני from ארח the path השׁביתו make cease מפנינו from before us את -- קדושׁ the Holy One of ישׂראל Israel
	12	לכן therefore כה thus אמר says קדושׁ the Holy One of ישׂראל Israel יען because מאסכם you refuse בדבר in matter הזה this ותבטחו and trust בעשׁק in oppression ונלוז and drift ותשׁענו and you lean עליו upon it
	13	לכן therefore יהיה will be לכם for you העון iniquity הזה this כפרץ as a breach נפל pending a fall נבעה simmering בחומה upon the wall נשׂגבה set on high אשׁר that פתאם suddenly לפתע suddenly יבוא comes שׁברה its breaking
	14	ושׁברה and he will break it כשׁבר as the breaking of נבל jar יוצרים a potter's כתות beaten לא without יחמל pity ולא and not ימצא there will be found במכתתו from its beating חרשׂ a potsherd לחתות to take hold of אשׁ fire מיקוד from a burning mass ולחשׂף or to strip מים water מגבא from a marsh

	24	והאלפים and the droves והעירים and the foals עבדי the servants of האדמה the ground בליל fodder חמיץ leavened יאכלו they will eat אשׁר that זרה has been winnowed ברחת with fragrance ובמזרה and with pitchfork
	25	והיה and there will be על over כל every הר hill גבה haughty ועל and over כל every גבעה hillock נשׂאה lifted up פלגים streams יבלי productive of מים water ביום in the day of הרג slaying רב abundant בנפל when fall מגדלים towers
	26	והיה and will become אור the light of הלבנה the white כאור as the light of החמה the warmth ואור and the light of החמה the warmth יהיה will be שׁבעתים seven times כאור the light of שׁבעת seven הימים days ביום in the day that חבשׁ binds יהוה Yahweh את -- שׁבר the shattering of עמו his people ומחץ and the wound of מכתו his defeat ירפא heals
	27	הנה behold שׁם the name of יהוה Yahweh בא comes ממרחק from afar בער kindled with אפו his anger וכבד glorious משׂאה in its bearing שׂפתיו his lips מלאו are full of זעם indignation ולשׁונו and his tongue כאשׁ is as fire אכלת devouring
	28	ורוחו and his spirit כנחל like a torrent שׁוטף overflowing עד to צואר a neck יחצה will reach half way up להנפה a wave offering of גוים nations בנפת elevated שׁוא in vain ורסן and a bridle מתעה from wandering על on לחיי the cheeks of עמים the peoples
	29	השׁיר the song יהיה will be לכם yours כליל as in the night of התקדשׁ holy חג a festive sacrifice ושׂמחת and gladness of לבב heart כהולך as one goes בחליל with a flute לבוא to enter בהר to the hill of יהוה Yahweh אל to צור the rock of ישׂראל Israel
	30	והשׁמיע and will make heard יהוה Yahweh את -- הוד the splendour of קולו his voice ונחת and the repose of זרועו his arm יראה he will show בזעף in the outrage of אף the anger ולהב and the flame of אשׁ a fire אוכלה consuming נפץ smashing וזרם and inundation ואבן and stone ברד hail
	31	כי for מקול from the voice of יהוה Yahweh יחת will be dismayed אשׁור Ashur בשׁבט with the sceptre יכה he will strike
	32	והיה and will be כל anyone מעבר passing through מטה the rod of מוסדה the foundation אשׁר whom יניח has given rest יהוה Yahweh עליו to בתפים with timbrels ובכנרות and harps ובמלחמות and with battles of תנופה a wave offering נלחם he fights בם with them
	33	כי for ערוך was arranged מאתמול previously תפתה seduction גם even היא this למלך for the king הוכן prepared העמיק deep הרחב broad מדרתה from a generation of אשׁ fire ועצים and timber הרבה much נשׁמת the breath of יהוה Yahweh כנחל like a torrent of גפרית pitch בערה kindles בה it
