2 Chronicles 18

You will recognize most of this chapter from the previous post of 1 Kings 22. But there are a few minor differences. My automation achieved an 81% match. The little differences in spelling and grammar slow me down as I investigate, but it's good to be slowed down.

The scattering / dispersal of Israel on the hills is but a warning shot over the bow of the ships to the kings in their regalia. They, the people were not yet exiled, but their masters, the commended Jehoshaphat and the quite lapsed Ahab (who can still know truth), were both guilty of failing their charges. 'Good' leader - 'bad' leader - it doesn't seem to matter. Too bad for the sheep.

If the differences are significant they show up in the English differences. Hebrew spelling variations do not generally show up in the English. The presence of the name Micah in this chapter is odd. Perhaps Ahab was addressing him by a short name.

There is no rest in the verse (28) that indicates an approach to war.

2 Chronicles 18 Fn Min Max Syll

7 And the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, Still one man to search out Yahweh from him, but I hate him, for he has no prophecy over me for good, but all his days for evil. He is Mikayahu child of Yimla,
and Jehoshaphat said, Let not the king say so.
3e 4C 57
14

12 And the messenger who went to call Mikayahu spoke to him, saying, Behold, if you will, the words of the prophets, one mouth, good for the king.
Let be, if you will, your word, as one of them, and speak good.
3c 4C 35
15

30 But the king of the Aramaeans had commanded the chiefs of the charioteers, of which he had thirty two, saying, Do not fight the least, the great,
but rather the king of Israel alone.

11

31 And it happened that when the chief charioteers saw Jehoshaphat, that they, they said, Surely he is the king of Israel and they turned around against him to fight,
but Jehoshaphat appealed, and Yahweh helped him and God diverted them from him.
3e 4C 35

that they turned back from following him.
3e 4B 17
8

33 And someone drew a bow completely, and struck the king of Israel between the appendages and chain mail,
and he said to the charioteer, Change your hand, and bring me forth from the camp, for I am ill.
3c 4C 27
25
