Oratorio part 3, Psalms 113

I set the whole psalm this time. It lent itself to a homophonic treatment with ease. This psalm in verses 7-8 reflects 1 Samuel 2 and anticipates the Magnificat.

ndb, verse 8 is the first time that this root recurs in a psalm.

In the middle of the psalm is a reprise of a verse of Psalms 110. The archaic imagery of the last verse is intriguing - so I repeated it in the first three parts. It is quite unclear who is the subject of each phrase.
