Numbers 24

On whom was the spirit?

Baalam and Balak, those two are superstitious, seeking sorcery, augury, and magic. This is not my view of reality or of God. I am convinced that if we wish to be taught by God, we must not begin by knowing all the answers we think God should be providing us. God provides us with difficult questions. We must find these and learn how great God's love really is and at what cost we are called into it.

My furious frustration is, that having done all this, I am still only at the beginning of the questions.

Numbers 24 Fn Min Max Syll
1 And Balaam saw that it was good in the eyes of Yahweh to bless Israel, and he did not go as he had, time after time, to encounter augury,
but set his face to the wilderness.
3e 4C 32
9
2 And Balaam lifted up his eyes, and he saw Israel dwelling by its sceptres,
and on him was the spirit of God.
3e 4A 19
9
3 And he lifted up his parable and said,
An oracle of Balaam, his child, of Beor, and an oracle of the valiant, the eye set.
3e 4C 9
18
4 An oracle of one who has heard the promises of God,
who gazes on a vision of the Sufficient, falling away but disclosed to eyes.
3e 4C 8
17
5 How good your tents, O Jacob,
your dwellings, O Israel.
3e 4A 10
8
6 As the wadis, they stretch out, as gardens beside a river,
as aloes Yahweh has planted, as the cedars beside water.
3e 4B 13
15
7 He will exude water from his gateways, and his seed in the many waters.
And his king will be exalted more than Agag, and his kingdom will be lifted up.
3e 4C 13
15
8 C The One brought him out from Egypt, as the great effort of a wild bull is his.
He will devour nations. His foes and their bones will be picked clean, and with his arrows he will wound.
3d 4C 14
19
9 He bows down. He lies down like a lion. And as an old lion, who will make him arise?
Those who bless you are blessed. And those who curse you are cursed.
3c 4B 15
13
10 And the anger of Balak burned at Balaam, and he cuffed his palms.
And Balak said to Balaam, To hex my enemies I have called you, and behold the blessing of blessing this is, three times.
3e 4C 15
30
11 And now you run away to your place.
I said, I will glorify you with glory, and behold, Yahweh has withheld you from glory.
3d 4B 12
21
12 And Balaam said to Balak,
Was it not even to your messengers whom you sent to me that I spoke, saying,
3c 4A 8
20
13 If Balak will give me his house filled with silver and gold, I could not pass through the mandate of Yahweh to do good or evil from my heart?
What Yahweh speaks, it, I will speak.
3d 4B 36
12
14 And now note me well, going to my people.
Come. I will advise you what this people will do to your people in the aftermath of the days.
3d 4B 10
24
15 And he lifted up his parable and said,
An oracle of Balaam, his child, of Beor, and an oracle of the valiant, the eye set.
3e 4C 9
18
16 An oracle of one who has heard the promises of God, and will make known the knowledge of the Most High,
gazing on a vision of the Sufficient, falling away but disclosed to eyes.
3e 4C 16
15
17 I will see him, but not now. I will scrutinize him, but it is not near.
A star will journey from Jacob, and a sceptre will arise from Israel, and will wound the quarters of Moab, and make a fountain of all the children of Seth.
3e 4B 15
31
18 And Edom will be a possession, and Seir will be a possession, his enemies.
And Israel will do forcefully.
3c 4A 18
8
19 And he will rule from Jacob,
and he will eliminate the survivor from the city.
3e 4A 7
8
20 And he saw Amalek, and he lifted up his parable, and said,
The first of nations, Amalek, and its aftermath for ever, is to perish.
3e 4C 15
16
21 And he saw the Kenite, and he lifted up his parable, and said,
Perennial your settlement, and set on the cliff, your nest,
3e 4A 15
14
22 f But rather Cain will be for kindling.
How long Ashur will take you captive.
3e 4B 9
7
23 And he lifted up his parable, and said,
Woe, who will live? The One sets it in place.
3e 4A 9
9
24 And galleys from the hand of Kittim, and they will afflict Ashur, and they will afflict Eber.
And he also for ever will perish.
3e 4B 15
7
25 And Balaam arose and he went, and he returned to his place.
And Balak also went on his way.
