2 Kings 10

Between what is written למחראות and what is read לְמֽוֹצָא֖וֹת stands a lot of questions about why the qere is read. In verse 27, what is read has the sense of understated filth, what is read is probably too rude to say out loud. There's no way that the scribe could confuse these two words.

My data does not contain all the words that are written. I now see I probably should have retained both ketiv and qere. A qere that corrects a ketiv is quite different from a qere that is a polite substitute for a written slur. In the first case I must accept the qere if I concur with it. (And sometimes I don't, e.g. in Psalm 100.) In the second I must keep the ketiv and be rude.

I also have a summary of the Koehler-Baumgartner lexicon where the practice of reading צאה filth for חרא shit is clearly noted. Oh my beard and whiskers. (I even have code in the music program to deal with the qere but it made the score more complex than necessary, so I decided not to use it. Still works though. All I would need is to update from the codex. One day someone with funding will also use the WLC web service to produce the scores. I have demonstrated that it is fully feasible. They will spend millions but that's fine. Such an effort would support several poor students.)

Also, will the real stem stand up? Some are obvious. Some are not. I will probably find a way to verify my final list against Koehler-Baumgartner at least by scanning those some of my outliers. I have found stems that are distinguished in some glossaries and not in others. E.g. I have conflated הלך with ילך. I think טוב and יטב should also be combined. (KB does not. The Hebrew Latin concordance does. The data is here.) But these can be reanalyzed  at any time. The stem or lemma form is a convenient abstraction for collecting words and sounds and domains, but it is somewhat redundant in the data since it is derived from commonality in the words themselves. The letters all have their way of behaving and sounding. Some of them are strong, some weak, some always stay in every word form and some don't. Remember the two teams of 11 - grammatical and non-grammatical letters - not quite that simple but very close.

Over 90% of the puzzle pieces by all measures, chapter, verse, and word, are now placed. (You can always see the summary status of Bob's Bible here.)

19 So now, every prophet of Baal, all his servants, and all his priests, call to me. Let no one be absent, for a great offering I have to Baal. Anyone that is absent will not live.
But Jehu acted to supplant, in order that he might eliminate the servants of Baal.

23 And Jehu and Yehonadab child of Rekab entered the house of Baal,
and said to the servants of Baal, Investigate and see lest there are here with you of the servants of Yahweh, but the servants of Baal, them alone.

24 And they came to do offerings and burnt offerings.
And Jehu set for himself outside eighty men, and he said, The man who lets one escape from the persons that I am bringing into your hands, his throat will be instead of his throat.

25 And it happened as he finished doing the burnt offering that Jehu said to the footmen and to the equerries, Enter. Strike them each. Let no one come out. And they struck them with the edge of the sword.
And the footmen and the equerries cast them out, and they went to the city of the house of Baal.
