To correct the text here would make sense. But it is Ezekiel, and we already know that is a mystifying book. I have read thick clouds עבים  for cords עבתים here. Perhaps the extra T is a jibe from the prophet over the self-aggrandizement of the leaders of the nations, here symbolized as trees in the garden of Eden.

Another words that is awkward as a verb is גבה aloft (3) brow (1) given stature (1) haughtiness (9) haughty (28) high lofty (13) loft (2) lofty (11) looks down (1) stature (7)

Those are my choices at the moment.

I think this is a parable - first of Pharaoh, and also of nations, perhaps of assemblies, of churches, of confessions, of pride... What is this water that we drink that has made us drunk on violence?

the nether parts of earth would be תחתי ארץ. (E.g. Psalm 63.10) Here we have three times ארץ תחתית. As in visions, the words may be backwards. Translations straighten them out. The phrase is rare in any case, and Psalm 86.13 provides a counter example.
