Ezekiel 43

Verse 11, KJV pattern. It's not the same word as in Exodus 25:40. The language behind pattern is difficult. The stem is תכן. It seems strongly related to כון, though it is listed separately in all the glossaries and their glosses overlap. (I suspect it is not really a separate stem.) Hebrews does not use the LXX version of Exodus, παράδειγμα (from which we get the English paradigm), but τύπον (from which we get the English type). And the LXX uses neither of those glosses here.

Then there is form. The stem is צור, a common word usually signifying rock or fortification, but here used 4 times in verse 11 in the feminine as if the house is a parable of Torah. This looks like the heart of the message of these chapters of Ezekiel so far. So I refused to invent another gloss for this stem. But it is obvious where to change it if you want to. This form of the word is rarely used. Four times here and Psalms 49:15 and perhaps Song 4:9 and Job 28:10. Here blueprint would work, but not elsewhere and it is anachronistic anyway (but so are we all).

Three times in TNK there is an extensive meditation on the holy place, where God lives, Exodus (twice), Kings and its parallel in Chronicles, and these chapters of Ezekiel. The sense of form and pattern and strength of the fortification, is the strength of Torah, the instruction we have for living together as one, a people of kindness and respect.

This dream image of Ezekiel can be quite stimulating to our dreams.

וְלָ֣קַחְתָּ֔ אֵ֖ת הַפָּ֣ר הַֽחַטָּ֑את וּשְׂרָפוֹ֙ בְּמִפְקַ֣ד הַבַּ֔יִת מִח֖וּץ לַמִּקְדָּֽשׁ	21		And you will take the young bull of the sin offering, and incinerate it in the place of visitation of the house outside the sanctuary.	3e	4B	10 14
וּבַיּוֹם֙ הַשֵּׁנִ֔י תַּקְרִ֛יב שְׂעִיר־עִזִּ֥ים תָּמִ֖ים לְחַטָּ֑את וְחִטְּאוּ֙ אֶת־הַמִּזְבֵּ֔חַ כַּאֲשֶׁ֥ר חִטְּא֖וּ בַּפָּֽר	22		And on the second day you will bring near a kid of the she-goats, complete, for a sin offering, and you will make a sin offering for the altar as they made sin offering with the young bull.	3d	4A	17 15
בְּכַלּוֹתְךָ֖ מֵֽחַטֵּ֑א תַּקְרִיב֙ פַּ֣ר בֶּן־בָּקָ֣ר תָּמִ֔ים וְאַ֥יִל מִן־הַצֹּ֖אן תָּמִֽים	23		And when you have finished the sin offering, you will bring near a young bull of the herd, complete, and a ram from the flock, complete,	3e	4B	7 16

שִׁבְעַ֣ת יָמִ֔ים תַּעֲשֶׂ֥ה שְׂעִיר־חַטָּ֖את לַיּ֑וֹם וּפַ֧ר בֶּן־בָּקָ֛ר וְאַ֥יִל מִן־הַצֹּ֖אן תְּמִימִ֥ים יַעֲשֽׂוּ	25		Seven days you will do a kid, a sin offering per day, and a young bull of the herd and a ram from the flock, complete, they will do.	3c	4B	13 17
שִׁבְעַ֣ת יָמִ֗ים יְכַפְּרוּ֙ אֶת־הַמִּזְבֵּ֔חַ וְטִֽהֲר֖וּ אֹת֑וֹ וּמִלְא֖וּ יָדָֽיו	26		Seven days they will make a cover-price for the altar and cleanse it, and fill his hands.	3e	4B	18 5
וִֽיכַלּ֖וּ אֶת־הַיָּמִ֑ים וְהָיָה֩ בַיּ֨וֹם הַשְּׁמִינִ֜י וָהָ֗לְאָה יַעֲשׂ֨וּ הַכֹּהֲנִ֤ים עַל־הַמִּזְבֵּ֙חַ֙ אֶת־עוֹלֽוֹתֵיכֶם֙ וְאֶת־שַׁלְמֵיכֶ֔ם וְרָצִ֣אתִי אֶתְכֶ֔ם נְאֻ֖ם אֲדֹנָ֥י יְהֹוִֽה	27		When they are finished the days, it will be on the eighth day and thereafter, the priests will do on the altar, your burnt offerings and your peace offerings, and I will accept you, an oracle of my Lord Yahweh.	3e	4C	7 47
