Verse 18: did he fall or did he fall out with all his kin? JB reads: he set himself to defy all his brothers. The above site translates נפל as dwelt. If we compare Judges 7:12 as noted, a sense of נפל as being in a state of living somewhere is reasonable. My gloss is awkward. It will probably change and it may change my mind about some other uses of נפל.
Verse 27: one of my key words תמם, complete. Jacob is called complete. I have no alternative for this word. It would take more than one example to convince me to put in a second gloss. JB, NIV have quiet, KJV has plain. Just bear in mind that these folks are making a decision for us. We don't have to agree.
