Deuteronomy 15

This chapter has several implications for personal generosity and the responsibility of stepping up to the cost.

Deuteronomy 15 Fn Min Max Syll
1 At the end of seven years, you will make a remittance. 3e 3g 12
2 And this is the word of the remittance: any owner will remit a debt of its hand, by which it contracted a debt with its associate.
It will not exact from its associate or its kin because it is called the remittance to Yahweh.
3e 4C 24
17
3 With the foreigner you exact,
but what is yours with your kin, your hand will remit.

16
4 ~ The end is that there be among you no needy,
for blessing Yahweh will bless you, in the land that Yahweh your God is giving to you as inheritance to possess,

29
5 C solely if, to hear, you hear with the voice of Yahweh your God,
to keep and to do all this commandment which I am commanding you today,
3d 4C 15
22
6 For Yahweh your God has blessed you, as he spoke to you.
And you will take collateral debt from many nations, but you will not give collateral, and you will govern in many nations, but in you, they will not govern.
3e 4C 17
31
7 But there will be needy among you, from one of your kin in one of your gates, in your land that Yahweh your God is giving to you.
You will not assure your heart, and you will not shut your hand from your kin, the needy.
3c 4C 35
22
8 But opening, you will open your hand for them,
and you will give collateral, more than enough for their lack, in what is lacking for them.
3c 4C 9
18
9 Keep watch for yourself, lest there be a word with your heart, worthless, saying, The seventh year draws near, the year of remittance. And your eye is evil and against your kin, the needy, and do you not give to them,
and they call against you to Yahweh, and it will be in you, sin.
3e 4C 49
15
10 C Giving, you will give to them, and let not your heart be irritated when you give to them,
for in the roll of this matter, Yahweh your God will bless you in every deed, and in all that you put your hand to.
3e 4C 15
31
11 d For the needy will not be left alone from within the land.
Therefore I am commanding you, saying, Opening, you will open your hand to your kin, to your poor, and to your needy, in your land.
3c 4C 12
35
12 If your kin was sold to you, the Hebrew male, or the Hebrew female, and has served you six years,
then in the seventh year, you will extend to such to be free from you.
3e 4C 23
16
13 And when you extend such to be free from you,
you will not send such away empty.
3e 4A 11
7
14 You will make available for them from your flock, from your threshing-floor, and from your wine-vats,
in that Yahweh your God has blessed you, you will give for them.
3c 4C 20
14
15 And remember that a servant you were in the land of Egypt, and Yahweh your God ransomed you,
therefore I am commanding you this matter today.
3c 4C 25
16
16 And it will be that if one such says to you, I will not go forth from you,
for it loves you and your house, for it is good for them with you,
3e 4C 14
14
17 Then you will take an awl, that you will give him, through his ear, and into the gateway,
and he will be for you a servant evermore. And also to your maidservant you will do such.
3e 4C 29
10
18 It will not be hard, in your eyes, when you extend such to be free from you, because for the equivalent wage of the wage-earner, such served you six years.
And Yahweh your God will bless you in all that you do.
3e 4C 32
17
19 Any firstborn that is born in your herd and in your flock, the male you will sanctify to Yahweh your God.
You will not do service with your firstborn bull, and you will not shear the firstborn of your flock.
3e 4C 25
18
20 In the presence of Yahweh your God you will eat it, year in year out, in the place where will Yahweh choose,
you and your house.
3e 4C 26
6
21 But when there is in it a spot, one that is lame, or blind, any evil spot,
you will not offer it to Yahweh your God.
3e 4B 15
11
22 In your gates you will eat it,
The unclean and the clean as one, as for gazelle and as for hart.
3e 4C 8
15
23 f But its blood you will not eat.
Over the earth, you will pour it out like water.
3e 4B 7

One wonders just what the custom of the use of an awl "in the ear and into the door" is supposed to suggest. The following verse indicates that the owner has had free labour for 6 years, and should not be considering a failure to release and "pay" the servant. We will eventually compare the parallel in Exodus and perhaps it will indicate a misplaced word.

I formed many thoughts on this chapter and deleted them all. It is a struggle to read. It is not 'all downhill from here'.
