Exodus 1

Names - Shemot (שׁמות) - is the name of the book of Exodus. Appropriate that it should happen while I was struggling in the red mud of 1 Chronicles.

Exodus 1 Fn Min Max Syll
1 And these are the names of the children of Israel when they came toward Egypt,
with Jacob, each person and his household came.
3e 4B 16
10
2 Reuben, Simeon, Levi, and Judah. 3e 4B 10
3 Issachar, Zebulun, and Benjamin. 3e 3g 10
4 f Dan and Naphtali, Gad and Asher. 3e 3g 9
5 And those were all who came out from Jacob's thigh, seventy of them,
but Joseph was in Egypt.
3d 4B 16
9
6 And Joseph died, and all his brothers, and all that generation. 3e 4C 15
7 And the children of Israel were fruitful, and they teemed and increased, and were made numerous, very much,
and the land was filled with them.
3c 4B 22
9
8 And a new king arose over Egypt,
who did not know Joseph.
3e 4A 11
7
9 And he said to his people,
Behold the people of the children of Israel are many and numerous among us.
3e 4C 6
15
10 f Take care that we be shrewd about this,
lest they increase and it happens that they call for war and they are added, even they, to those hating us and fight against us, and they go up from the land.
3e 4C 6
34
11 So they set up over them chiefs to enforce services, in order to afflict them with their burdens,
and they built cherished cities for Pharaoh, Pithom and Raamses.
3e 4C 20
19
12 But as they afflicted them, so they increased, and so broke out.
And they bristled in the presence of the children of Israel.
3e 4B 16
11
13 And Egypt made the children of Israel serve harshly. 3c 3g 16
14 And they made their lives bitter with hard servitude in red mud and in bricks and in all service in the field.
All their servitude that they made them serve them was harsh.
3e 4C 28
15
15 And said the king of Egypt to the midwives of the Hebrews,
(of whom the name of one was Shifrah and the name of the second Puah),
3e 4C 14
15
16 And he said, When you are midwife to the Hebrew women and see them on the bearing-stools,
if a son it is, then put it to death, but if a daughter it is, then let it live.
3e 4B 20
16
17 But the midwives feared God, and they did not do what the king of Egypt spoke to them,
but they let the male newborns live.
3d 4C 29
8
18 And the king of Egypt called to the midwives, and he said to them, For what purpose have you done this thing,
and you have let the male newborns live?
3e 4C 26
8
19 And the midwives said to Pharaoh, Because they are not like the women of Egypt, the Hebrew women,
for they are lively themselves. For ere the midwives come to them, they have given birth.
3c 4C 23
20
20 And God dealt well with the midwives,
and the people increased and were made very numerous.
3c 4A 9
11
21 So it happened that the midwives feared God,
and he made for them, houses.
3e 4A 13
7
22 But Pharaoh had commanded all his people, saying,
Every son born you will cast into the canals, but every daughter you will let live.
